Hey therešĀ
I'm Viktoriia Vasylchenko, a postdoctoral research associate working with the amazing Dr Craig & Professor Kate group and Dr Tom Piers. Right now, I'm super excited about my project, where we're exploring the potential of islet transplants to treat diabetes type 1.
During my PhD, I had the opportunity to delve into the fascinating world of oxidative status changes and developing super sensitive, non-invasive tests for chronic kidney disease, especially in its early stages.Ā
I was lucky enough to receive a Ukrainian PhD visiting scholarship at the University of Bristol, where I was supervised by the wonderful Associate Professor Becky Foster and Professor Simon Satchell. After that, I was thrilled to join the Professor Gavin Welsh and Professor Moin Salem group at Bristol Renal. There, I had the opportunity to run an independent project using 3D model spheroids for drug testing, in collaboration with Travere. My next research with Bristol Renal was also in collaboration with Travere, where we investigated glycocalyx changes in 2D and whether some pharmaceutical targets could protect against its loss.Ā
I'm also a member of the Ukrainian Biochemical Society, the British Society for Neuroendocrinology, the Society for Endocrinology and the British Microcirculation and Vascular Biology Society.Ā
When I'm not working, I love reading, walking in nature and dancing. If you'd like to get in touch, you can find me on LinkedIn (Viktoriia Vasylchenko | LinkedIn ) or send me an email (V.Vasylchenko@exeter.ac.uk).
