Congratulations Katie!

Congratulations to Katie Partridge for passing her Viva today! She will be moving on from the Beallacotts soon to pursue other research, and we all wish her the absolute best in her future endeavours.

Grant achievement

Congratulations Wyn for being awarded two travel grants to attend the XVI European Meeting on Glial Cells in Health and Disease in Berlin this September. The grants were from BSN and Network Glia e.V.

Brain Networking Event

Kate, Craig, Paul, Wyn and Asmaa attended this year's Brain Networking Event at Sandy Park, a cross-disciplinary networking event for Exeter researchers. Craig, Kate and Paul presented.

Beallacott Retreat 2022

The Retreats are back! For the first time in three years, the Beallacotts were able to get together in person to share their research progress and plans for the future. The day finished with a competitive game of bowling and a dinner by the Exeter Quay.

Newly published work on AMPK activation and hypoglycaemia in rats

This publication has been a long time coming! JDRF-funded research into AMPK activation's effect on the hypoglycaemia counterregulatory response in rats is now published, in 'Brain Permeable AMP-Activated Protein Kinase Activator R481 Raises Glycaemia by Autonomic Nervous System Activation and Amplifies the Counterregulatory Response to Hypoglycaemia in Rats'.
