I am a Graduate Research Assistant in the Beall team. I am part of a new project exploring whether a type of cell found in the brain can be used to develop long-lasting, effective β-cell therapies for type 1 diabetes.
I completed my undergraduate degree at Durham University in Biomedical Sciences and then studied an MSc by Research in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Edinburgh. As part of my MSc degree, I completed two 6-month research projects; one focused upon haematopoietic stem cell development and the other on hepatocellular carcinoma research. Following my MSc degree, I worked as a Virologist at a diagnostics company for two years before going travelling for a year. Following this, I returned to research at the University of Exeter in 2023 initially focusing upon neonatal diabetes research before joining the Beall Team in November 2024.
Outside of working in the laboratory I love running, skiing and surfing (which is one of the reasons why I love living on the south coast!)
